day 286: help me oprah i'm crazy
day 258: storm king art center
Last weekend I had the pleasure of getting out of the city and visiting Storm King Art Center. Storm King Art Center is an open air museum with a core collection of pieces by modern masters and contemporary sculptors that has built up over the past 40 years. Storm King Art Center is situated in Mountainville around 1hr’s drive from the city to upstate New York.
This was the first time I’ve escaped the none stop hecticness of the city since arriving to enjoy fresh country air and the beautiful fall landscape of New York. It was everything I had hoped for – the scenery was spectacular and the experience was unforgettable.
day 191: marcoart
On my way home tonight I was struck by a fantastically colourful mural as I was walking along Ludlow St. I wondered why I had never noticed it before as it was a like a flashing beacon in an otherwise monotonous and dreary street which characterise the aesthetics of the Lower East Side. When I saw Marco of Marcoart putting the finishing touches to the Mural, I realised that it was new. I introduced myself to the artist and he told me that he had been commissioned by the deserted building property owners (which I think development has halted due to the economic downturn) to paint something cheerful on its perimeter fencing. Marco is a POP artist who has been commissioned by the likes of Le Bron James, LL Cool Jay, Run DMC, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Russell Simmons and Marc Ecko.
Trashion is philosphy of transforming trash into art in an effort to address issues, such as consumption and sustainability. Below are some of examples taken at The Urban Green Initiative’s Trashion Party. The exhibition, held at Gallery 151 runs until Aug 15.

Meet fashion designer Moira Darling and her models exhibiting her designs.
Meet Photographer Anna Wolf (whom, in my opinion, has a great name) and her boyfriend who publishes Untitled Magazine.

Some of the artworks displayed…

Meet Laura Alejo – lead designer at Hush. They have one of the best business cards I’ve seen, which incidentally, I used as a filter to take this shot of Laura!
