Today Ludlow st was closed off for the filming of a scene in Wall Street 2.
day 278: who shot rock and roll
Today I went to the Who Shot Rock and Roll exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. The exhibition is the best collection of music/artist photography I’ve seen. I’ve included some samples below where you will see a very young Rolling Stones in Australia before they were signed; Madonna just after she released her first single, the photographer shot her not because she was Madonna but because they attended the same gym and she had always liked the way Madonna dressed; and also Kurt Cobain who just walked backstage and broke down into tears right after smashing his guitar on their amp on stage.
< day 277: down with the mohawk
Today we celebrated at work with champagne because the Jury for The 2010 International ANDY Awards was finally announced. For the past 3 months I’ve been working on a campaign for the 2010 International ANDY Awards to democratically crowd source this year’s jury panel – which you can read more of here. We’re pretty proud to see non traditional advertising creative innovators such as Sheppard Fairy (Obey), Mimi Cook (Creative Director, Apple) and our very Aussie own Ashley Ringrose (Creative Director, Soap). See who else is on the panel here.
day 274: slideluck potshow
Tonight I went to Slideluck Potshow which is basically a photography event where people all bring a dish each to share Potluck style while viewing photography in a slide show format. Anyone can submit work. The slide show showcases works created by novice, undiscovered and established artists. This event aims to bring people together around food and art,and to give them an interesting, engaging and fun platform for sharing art with their community.
As part of the festivities, there was an Irving Penn Photobooth – dedicated to the late Irving Penn who died October this year. Here are some shots.
< day 273: bronques (lastnightsparty)
This is a photo I shot at last nights party of Bronques from LastNightsParty shooting a photo.
day 269: bonchon fried chicken
I was talking to this guy once and we got on the topic of fried chicken (you know how it is). He told me the best fried chicken hands down was Korean Fried chicken as they have a special method of cooking where the chicken is fried twice resulting it being cruchier and less greasy. He then went on to recommend the best place to try this dish – Bonchon. I was definitely not disappointed and second that it was some of the best fried chick I’ve ever tasted.
