day 164: Macau – rickshaw
day 159: Caracas Arepa Bar
Arepa is a Venezuelan corn muffin, crisp on the outside and steamy-soft in the middle, stuffed with fillings like mashed chicken and avocado, perhaps, or sweet plantains and cheese, or shredded beef and shavings of Cheddar. I never knew these things existed until I walked passed this Arepa bar today. Caracas Arepa Bar is decorated in an kitchy Brazilian like fashion and serves these large snacks in baskets.
I entered some of my photography into the Levi’s Go Forth Contest. Please vote for me so I can win a trip to Sunny San Fran. Cheers.
Trashion is philosphy of transforming trash into art in an effort to address issues, such as consumption and sustainability. Below are some of examples taken at The Urban Green Initiative’s Trashion Party. The exhibition, held at Gallery 151 runs until Aug 15.
< day 155: the mighty boosh, myspace secret, bowery ballroom.
There’s a real Banh Mi craze in NYC at the moment. Banh Mis are popping up on menus all over the place. I have to say though the best Banh Mi experience indisputably is at Saigon Bakery. What makes it so good?
1. The taste is amazing and totally authentic – large roll (1 foot) choc full of yummy ingredients, crunchy outside and soft inside.
2. It costs $3.75
3. You order and buy it at the back of a Jewelry store!
day 153: no weapons allowed
Today I had the pleasure of watching Q-Tip perform at SummerStage. It was one of the best gigs I’ve seen. The closest I will ever get to hearing Tribe Called Quest songs played live. SummerStage is free performing arts festival held every summer in New York’s Central Park. The acts culturally diverse in multiple disciplines including music, dance, word, film, and comedy.
day 150: mr. bubbles and rich
Tonight I went to the opening of Beauty of the Fight at Milk Studios – a stunning documentary style photography exhibition by director and photographer John Urbano. I noticed a lot of his photography’s focal point was in the background rather than the foreground. So this inspired me experiment the technique.
