I’m currently studying a class on Narrative Photography at ICP – essentially, Narrative Photography that tells a story and begs the viewer to contemplate on the meaning behind the shot. The aim is to provoke imagination where the storyline is open ended and interpretation belongs each viewer individually.
Each week we are given assignments to do for the next class the following week The first assignment I’ve been tasked with is to create a print that references a film. See if you can guess the films I’ve referenced.
day 378: betel
Tonight I was invited to the opening of Betel – a new asian fusion restaurant in the West Village. Why I’m so excited about this is because its the sister restaurant to Jimmy Liks in Sydney – One of my favourite restaurants. I love that the menu is pretty similar with some of my favourite dishes on there. If you’re into food that’s made with fresh produce and rich in flavour with divinely concocted sauces then you must try Betel out.
day 367: one year on…..
As of today I’ve been living in NYC for 1 year. How things can change in just 365 days – especially in such a fast paced environment. When I first arrived I was on a mission to find a job, an apartment, meet people, find friends and integrate myself into the New York way of life. Now that I’m in a routine, comfortable and settled it can at times feel like one giant rat race. Sometimes reflecting back, it would be nice to go back to day 1 where everything was new with no sense at all of what to expect next. Here’s to Day 1: hello NYC……
Awaiting for NYC at LAX

Flying into JFK

Meet the lovely Amanda De Simone

Amanda takes me to eat Soul food for my first meal in NYC at Mama’s
Even though severely jet lagged I still managed to go out. My first night out experience in NYC was……RODEOS?

And Cowboys??

I saw this on the wall at the Rodeo Bar. Smiled. And called it a night.
